On 9 April, as part of Statistics Week, an extended meeting of faculty members and students with representatives of the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan (BNS ASPR RK) was organized.
The event was held in the format of a professional dialogue between future specialists and current experts in the field of statistics. The meeting was organised by Aliya Aitkhozhin, Master's degree holder and Senior Lecturer of the Department of Accounting and Audit at Esil University.
The speakers at the meeting were: Gulfariza Takisheva and Aitbek Shaukilov — Senior Experts of the Department of Statistics of Mutual Trade and Commodity Markets of the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan — who delivered a presentation on the topic "Cooperation between statisticians and other departments of the company. Statistics of Foreign, Mutual Trade and Commodity Markets." They discussed the specifics of working in this field, the application of statistical data in the assessment of trade turnover, and modern tools for collecting and analysing information.
Students showed particular interest in the practical aspects of interaction between statistical units and other departments within agencies and organizations.
Walikhan Argynbayev, Head of the Department for Work with Users of Statistical Information of the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Astana, emphasised in his presentation the importance of effective interaction with various categories of users of official statistics, including government bodies, business structures, and scientific and educational institutions.
Issues of digitizing statistics, implementing user services, and expanding access to statistical data through online platforms were reviewed.
During the meeting, students of the educational programs 'Statistics,' 'Accounting and Audit,' and other related fields were able to ask questions about the practical aspects of the profession, internships, career opportunities, and skills in demand within the state statistics system.
Following the discussion, the importance of regular interaction between educational institutions and professional bodies, as well as the necessity of integrating practice-oriented components into the educational process, was emphasized.
