The solemn opening of the Week of the Department of Accounting and Audit, dedicated to the "Statistics" educational programme, took place at Esil University. The event brought together lecturers and students of the "Accounting and Audit" and "Statistics" educational programmes. and representatives of the professional community, including specialists from the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan (BNS ASPR RK).
Representatives of the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan participated in the opening of the week: Arsen Zhakupov — Director of the Department of Human Resources Development, Әсел Кузембай – Head of the Personnel Motivation and Development Department; Aigerim Adilbekova – Chief Expert of the Personnel Motivation and Development Department, Гүлнар Бекишева – Head of the Employment Statistics Department, Samal Kereybayeva – Chief Expert of the Department of Living Standards Statistics.
During the meeting, the prospects for bilateral cooperation were discussed. The university administration initiated the question of opening a branch of Esil University on the basis of the Bureau of National Statistics , and also expressed interest in engaging Bureau specialists as practitioner-lecturers. Their participation in the development and implementation of modular educational programs, а также в the work of the university's academic council. In addition, they agreed on Cooperation in the Scientific Sphere: the preparation of teaching materials, the publication of methodological resources, and the completion of practical internships by students.
Furthermore, the speakers spoke about Data Literacy Hub — an international initiative developed in collaboration with global organizations. It is a platform for free online learning where students can master the fundamentals of statistics and data analytics and subsequently apply their knowledge in practice. The training is accessible to all interested individuals, and upon successful completion of testing, participants receive certificates. To date, more than 50,000 individuals have registered for the programme.
One of the main areas of cooperation stipulated in the previously signed memorandum was providing Esil University students with the opportunity to complete internships at the Bureau, work with real statistical data, and participate in analytical projects.
A significant moment of the meeting was the announcement by Bureau specialists of the launch of a new project — "School of the Young Statistician" — aimed at developing students' practical skills and professional orientation. Students of Esil University will participate. Active Participation in This Project, upon the results of which participants will be able to obtain professional certificates.
To date, more than 50 students are enrolled in the "Statistics" educational programme at Esil University on a grant basis. In turn, the university continues to actively develop this field, strengthening ties with relevant government bodies and introducing a practice-oriented approach to education.
At the opening of the week, a concert programme prepared by the creative ensembles of the Esil University art club was also held. Throughout the week, participants can look forward to a rich programme of master classes, lectures, and meetings with representatives of the professional community.
