A seminar-training dedicated to the "Gift the Earth a Garden" programme was held at Esil University as part of the national environmental campaign "Taza Kazakhstan."
The topic of the event is particularly relevant in the context of global climate change, soil degradation, desertification of territories, and the growing environmental burden on cities and regions. Urban greening today is not merely landscaping but an element of ecological security, public health, and sustainable territorial development.
The "Gift a Garden to the Earth" programme is directly linked to the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 13 "Climate Action," SDG 15 "Life on Land," and SDG 11 "Sustainable Cities and Communities." The creation of green spaces reduces the carbon footprint, improves air quality, fosters a favourable living environment, and promotes social cohesion.
Today, sustainable development means practical action on the ground. The seminar provided an opportunity to discuss the experience of bringing together government structures, businesses, educational institutions, and the public around specific projects.

The programme's author, Yuriy Gashek, Chairman of the "Gift the Earth a Garden" Foundation and eco-ambassador under the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, demonstrated how environmental initiatives can serve as a tool for the strategic development of a region and form part of the global environmental agenda.
Also addressing the meeting was Nelya Shapekova, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, and Ombudsman of L.N. Gumilev Eurasian National University. In her address, she highlighted the importance of ecological culture for the health of the nation, noting the direct connection between the state of the environment and the quality of life of the population.
Today's meeting provided an opportunity to recognise the importance of environmental responsibility and to see how the personal participation of each individual can contribute to a sustainable future.
