A Curator Session on the Value of Academic Integrity

Within the framework of educational activities, the Department of Social Work and Tourism held a tutor hour on the topic: "Academic Integrity — the Foundation of a Student's Professional and Personal Responsibility." Curator Medetbekova Anar provided a scholarly explanation of the essence of academic integrity to students and elaborated on its role in the educational process.

Key Issues:

• independent and conscientious completion of academic assignments;
• the consequences of academically dishonest actions, such as plagiarism, copying, and falsification;
• integrity is an indicator of intellectual freedom and professional culture. In the course of the meeting, emphasis was placed on the importance of students' responsible attitude towards academic performance, the development of critical thinking skills, and adherence to research ethics. The formation of academic integrity was grounded in the following principles:

1. Personal responsibility — the student bears personal responsibility for the results of their own work;
2. Respect for intellectual property – compliance with copyright and citation of sources;
3. An atmosphere of trust — strengthening fairness and mutual respect within the group;
4. A culture of academic integrity — the aspiration toward meaningful completion rather than copying ready-made work.

The advisory hour was conducted in an interactive format: students shared their experiences and exchanged views on ways to preserve an environment of trust and fairness at the university. They noted that academic integrity is not limited to grades but directly contributes to the professional reputation and ethical responsibility of a future specialist.
