How to register and borrow materials

01Library access is granted to students, faculty, and university staff.
02To register, present your student ID, passport, national ID and a 3x4 photo.
03When registering, review the Library Rules and confirm your commitment to follow them by signing the reader's record card.
04To borrow materials, present your library card, fill out a request slip and sign the book forms.

Readers may extend the loan period for books if no other readers have requested them.

Lending and services

Educational literatureIssued for one semester.
Scientific literatureIssued for up to 1 month: 5–10 copies for faculty, researchers, postgraduate students, and final-year students; 5 copies for other categories of readers.
Reading room onlyEncyclopedias, reference publications, rare and valuable single-copy books, as well as periodicals, are available only in the reading room.
Front-of-house serviceOther categories of readers are served in the reading room only.
*Responsibilities

Readers’ Responsibilities

Careful handlingHandle books with care and return them on time.
Checking the bookWhen receiving a book, carefully inspect it and report any defects to the librarian.
Annual re-registrationAt the beginning of each new calendar year, re-register your library card and present all books checked out in your name.
Holidays and leaveReturn all borrowed books before summer holidays and vacations and obtain a stamp on the clearance form.
Material liabilityReaders bear financial liability for damage to the library collection in accordance with the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Replacement of publicationsIn case of loss or damage to books or other materials, replace them with identical or equivalent editions accepted by the library.
Violation of rulesFor violating the library rules, a reader loses the right to use all service points for 1 month.

Liability and penalties

Loss or damage

A reader responsible for the loss or unintentional damage of library books must replace them with equivalent editions accepted by the library; if replacement is impossible, they must compensate three times the value.

Overdue returns

If a reader fails to return a book borrowed for a fixed period for more than a month, a fine of 100 KZT per copy is charged.

Checkout from the reading room

Removing books and periodicals from the reading room incurs a fine of 100 KZT per copy and suspension of library privileges for 1 month.
