Round Table ‘Professional Council on Auditing: Kazakhstani Realities of Independent Oversight and the Needs of the Audit Market’

Esil University, in collaboration with the PSAD, organised a round table on the topic: "The Professional Council on Auditing Activities: Kazakhstani Realities of Independent Oversight and the Needs of the Audit Market."

Participants in the round table included: Deputy Minister of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Chairman of the Board of PSAD Kenbeil Dauren Maratovich, deputies of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Board members, representatives of the stock exchange, international certifications, professional audit and accounting organisations of Kazakhstan and foreign countries, as well as academics and the faculty of the Department of Accounting and Audit of Esil University.

During the meeting, the following topics were discussed: achievements and best practices in the field of the institutional model of public oversight, international trends and its importance for audit quality, the results of activities for 2021–2023, tasks for the future and positive prospects, and the role of professional oversight in Kazakhstan and abroad.

Additionally, Doctor of Economics, Professor Aliyev Murat raised the important issue of a shortage of qualified specialists in the field of accounting and auditing, noting that the lack of personnel represents the primary barrier to the country's economic growth and technological development.

Today, the Department of Accounting and Auditing at Esil University is one of the leading departments. In 2010, the Department of Accounting and Auditing established the first doctoral program in Kazakhstan for the training of research personnel in the field of accounting. Under the supervision of Doctor of Economics, Professor Murat Aliyev, five PhD degrees have been defended, three of whom are employed at the Department of Accounting and Auditing.
