The Department of Social Work and Tourism offers training in the following educational programs:

• with the award of the academic degree ‘Bachelor of Services in the educational program 6В11101 "Tourism";
• with the award of the academic degree Bachelor of Services in the educational program 6В11401 ‘Social Work’;
• with the award of the academic degree ‘Master in the field of services in EP 7M11401 ‘Social Work’ (professional track); with the award of the academic degree ‘Master of Science in EP 7M11401 ‘Social Work’ (scientific and pedagogical track).

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM ‘TOURISM’

According to recent studies of economic development trends, tourism is one of the most dynamically developing sectors of the global and Kazakhstani economy.

The professional skills acquired in the ‘Tourism’ program open up unlimited opportunities for a person to explore the world, allow them to understand and see its beauty and diversity, and share this with everyone interested.

The professional activity of a bachelor of tourism is aimed at improving the management of tourism enterprises and organizations, studying the tourism opportunities of our country and foreign experience in tourism services to optimize the system of current and long-term planning, introducing modern methods of tourism service and information technologies, improving the quality of the tourism product, and training mid-level personnel for tourism enterprises.

The professional field of the bachelor for the ‘Tourism’ program, this is the tourism and hospitality industry, as well as science, education, government regulation, and other areas of human activity directly or indirectly related to tourism.

You Will Be Able to Work managers in companies engaged in tourism activities, heads of marketing departments and advertising services of travel firms, enterprises, etc.

Objects of professional activity

· government bodies related to the organization of tourism (committees, akimats, regional representative offices);

· public and private companies engaged in the tourism business;

· hospitality and tourism industry facilities;

· educational institutions and research organizations, advertising agencies.

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM ‘SOCIAL WORK’ (BACHELOR’S)

The social sphere is one of the most dynamically developing spheres of Kazakhstani society. Social workers are specialists with the highest moral and ethical principles of human culture. Their demand in the labor market and in the life of our society is steadily growing. All this opens up wide opportunities for the professional and personal development and growth of our graduates.

Our goal is to train competitive social work specialists who are in demand in the labor market. The social well-being and stability of Kazakhstani society as a whole, and of every Kazakhstani individually, largely depend on their professionalism.

Objects of a social worker’s professional activity:

· government structures (akimats at all levels, departments of education and culture, youth affairs committees);

· institutions and organizations of social protection bodies (pension payment centers, employment and social program departments);

· educational institutions (extracurricular institutions, general schools of all types and levels, boarding schools, orphanages);

· healthcare institutions (medical-preventive, correctional-rehabilitation institutions);

· social service institutions (boarding homes for single and elderly citizens, home social assistance departments for children with disabilities or for single and elderly people);

· correctional and rehabilitation centers, family and child support centers;

· juvenile affairs inspectorates, social shelters;

· cultural leisure services (teen clubs, children’s and youth centers).

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM ‘SOCIAL WORK’ (MASTER'S)

Graduates of the master’s educational program  ‘Social Work’ acquire knowledge and skills that allow them to effectively solve social problems at the level of the individual, the social group, and society as a whole, implement innovative projects and programs, and activate the partnership of social actors.

The Main Objective of the Educational Program:

• meeting the growing need of the social sector for highly qualified professionals;
• able to apply innovative technologies;
• aimed at improving social well-being;
• effectively implementing social policy in a rapidly changing social environment;
• proficient in modern methods of managing social services;
• having the skills of: organizing and conducting comprehensive social research; developing social policy programs; developing and applying innovative social technologies to address social protection tasks; counseling;
• able to: diagnose, forecast, design, and model social processes; establish interaction and coordination of the activities of state, commercial, and public organizations in solving social problems on the basis of social partnership; communicate effectively and be a mediator in negotiations and conflict situations.

A master’s diploma in the ‘Social Work’ educational program gives the right to be employed both in non-governmental and in state bodies of local self-government and state authority, as managers and leading specialists, in the sphere of socio-political organizations, business, and media as consultants and research analysts, in research institutes, and in the spheres of social education.
