General Information
The Department of Social Work and Tourism is a structural subdivision of the Faculty of Applied Sciences of the Institution "Esil University".
The department was established by decision of the Academic Council of the Kazakh University of Economics, Finance, and International Trade in 2017, by merging the departments "Social Work" and "Tourism and Service".
Head of the Department of Social Work and Tourism, PhD, Associate Professor Sadykov Zhasulan Amangeldiyevich.
The Department of Social Work and Tourism provides professional training in the following educational programs: 6В11401 — "Social Work", 6В11101 — "Tourism", and 7М11401 — "Social Work", 7М11402 — "Social Work" (master's), in accordance with license АБ№0137409, issued by the Committee for Control in the Sphere of Education and Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan on February 3, 2010 (license annex number №0110347).
The department ensures the implementation of educational and scientific activities. Academic work is a priority area of the department's activity and is aimed at developing the relevant competencies in students, as well as the skill of applying them, necessary for practical work in the tourism and social spheres.
Human resource potential
In the 2025-2026 academic year, the total number of faculty members is 25, of whom 19 are full-time, including 5 candidates of sciences, 4 PhD doctors, and 10 master's degree holders. The proportion of degree holders among the department's faculty is 47%.
The department's faculty members produce monographs, textbooks, study guides, and high-impact-factor scientific rating articles, participate in international conferences and symposiums, and hold round tables with the participation of renowned scholars.
The department's research interests are aimed at studying the social problems of modern society and technologies for working with various categories of the population, as well as the problems of developing the tourism sector in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Throughout the academic year, the teaching staff of the Department of Social Work and Tourism participates and presents reports at international, national, and city scientific forums, conferences, and similar events. The department's work has been recognized by European and domestic Academies of Sciences.
At present, the department staff continues to work on improving the modular educational programs and expanding the range of training areas for bachelor's and master's students, and is also actively engaged in research activities.
