About the department

Department of Law

The department was established in 2010 as the Department of Marketing and Law, and in September 2018 it was renamed the Department of International Trade and Law.

The mission of the department: to train highly qualified specialists in the field of law and customs affairs who possess the competencies that meet employers' demands for successful future employment.

The department's goal: Providing comprehensive and high-quality professional education in the field of law and customs affairs.

Main objectives of the department:

– achieving the best positions in training highly qualified specialists in the department's educational programs;

– extensive use of innovative teaching technologies that foster the development of students' creative potential;

- improvement of the dual training system and development of additional certification for students

– conducting scientific research with the involvement of students.

On the basis of the license for educational activities issued by the State Institution "Committee for Control in the Field of Education and Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan", the department conducts educational activities:

From 2010 to 2016, the department was headed by Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Kamenova M.Zh., who made a great contribution to the formation of the department's teaching staff and the organization of educational, methodological, and research work.

From August 2016 to 2023, the department was headed by Candidate of Economic Sciences, Acting Professor Daribayeva Adaskhan Kuzembayevna.

Since 2023, the Department of Law has been headed by Candidate of Legal Sciences, Associate Professor Kaliyev Askar Kadyrovich. The department's staff contributes to the successful functioning of educational programs in the fields of student training in accordance with the priorities of the University, the faculty, and the department.

The teaching staff comprises 19 people with extensive experience in research and teaching, as well as practical experience in law enforcement agencies, civil service, and commercial firms, including: 2 doctors of law, 4 PhDs in jurisprudence, 1 candidate of economic sciences, 6 candidates of law, and 6 master's degree holders.

The department's faculty members carry out active educational and methodological work, applying innovative teaching methods; they conduct educational and scholarly work, take part in domestic and international scientific and practical conferences, and publish scholarly articles in journals recommended by the authorized body and in highly ranked journals from the Scopus database.

The department's educational and methodological work is aimed at providing the educational process with educational and methodological documentation, enhancing the teaching skills of faculty members, improving classroom and independent work of students, and improving all types and methods of academic work with regard to market requirements and employer demands.

Graduates of the department successfully work in government bodies, ministries and agencies, customs authorities, and national and private companies.
