About the department

Department of Information Systems and Technologies

The Department of Information Systems and Technologies was established in 2007 at the Faculty of Accounting and Finance of the Kazakh University of Economics, Finance, and International Trade.

The department provides training for bachelor's students in the educational programs 6В06101 - "Information Systems", 6В06103 - "Information Technologies and Data Protection", 6В06102 - "Computer Engineering and Software", as well as for master's students in the specialized and scientific-pedagogical track under the educational program 7М06101 - "Information Systems".

In the 2022-2023 academic year, 20 full-time teachers work at the department, including 5 candidates of science and associate professors, 2 candidates of science and senior teachers, 1 PhD doctor and associate professor, 9 masters and senior teachers, 2 senior teachers, and 1 master and teacher.

The faculty members of the department actively conduct research activities and participate in scientific conferences and seminars.

The department has 2 research laboratories: "Computer Engineering and Automation of Production Processes" and "Problems of Information Systems Management," as well as 3 specialized educational laboratories: "Corporate Application Development," "Network Communications," and "Development of Computer System Interfaces," equipped with modern PCs and software tools.

Faculty members of the department actively publish the results of their research in journals with a non-zero impact factor and in journals recommended by the Committee for Quality Assurance in Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan (CQAES RK). Over the past 5 years, more than 48 articles with a non-zero impact factor and 24 articles in journals recommended by the CQAES RK have been published. 2 faculty members have an h-index in the Scopus and Web of Science databases, and there are also 10 registered certificates for copyright-protected works.

In 2021, Bekzatov Samat, a second-year student in the "Information Systems" specialty, took 1st place at the Republican Subject Olympiad in the "Information Systems" specialty.

In 2023, 4th-year students of the educational program "Information Systems" Golovinova Anastasia, Absadykov Magzhan, and Tretyakovskaya Evangelina became holders of the First Degree Diploma in the international competition of STA projects with the topic "Development of a digital illumination module on the Arduino-Uno platform" in the scientific field "Physical and Mathematical Sciences", and 3rd-year student of the educational program "Information Technology and Data Protection" Mirakhmedov Alisher became the winner of the international competition of educational projects "Digital Transformation" with the topic "Nanotechnology and its impact on human life", awarded the Second Degree Diploma in the nomination "Creative Research" in the field "Technical Sciences" (Supervisor - Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Kasenova L.G.).

A graduate of the department is a professional with full command of all the core technologies and tools of design, programming, and information security, ready for research and organizational-managerial work in the field of creating, maintaining, and managing the quality of software, protecting data, and applying computer technologies to solve a variety of problems.

Graduates of the department find prestigious and interesting jobs at leading software development firms and other financial and commercial organizations. For example, master's graduate Anisimov A.N. is the deputy chairman of the Management Board of JSC "Infocommunication Holding Zerde".
