The applicant calendar for the 2025-2026 academic year brings together the key deadlines and requirements for applicants to bachelor's, master's and doctoral programmes. The Unified National Testing (UNT) is held 5 times a year, while the Comprehensive Testing and the doctoral entrance examination are held twice a year; the dates are set by the National Testing Center.

Registration and application for testing take place at app.testcenter.kz.

Testing Schedule

Unified National TestingHeld 5 times a year: in January, March and August — for fee-based admission; in May and June — for grant-based admission.

Comprehensive TestingHeld twice a year. The dates are set by the National Testing Center.

Doctoral Entrance ExaminationHeld twice a year. The dates are set by the National Testing Center.

Registration for TestingRegistration and application for testing take place at app.testcenter.kz.

Testing format and threshold scores for each level: bachelor's, master's, doctoral studies.

01Bachelor's Degree — UNT

5 subjects3 compulsory + 2 major-specific subjects. Total number of test items — 120.

Maximum score — 140Total testing time — 4 hours (240 minutes).

Threshold scoreAt least 50 points; for the Law group of educational programmes — 75 points.

02Master's Degree — Comprehensive Testing

Research and Teaching Master'sCT threshold score — 75 points (state grant and fee-based admission).

Specialized master'sCT threshold score — 50 points (state grant and fee-based admission).

Thresholds for Two TracksForeign language — at least 25 points (research and pedagogical master's programme); for the profile of the group of educational programmes — 7 points in each subject.

03Doctoral Studies — Entrance Examination

Examination StructureEssay writing, a doctoral studies readiness test, and examination questions on the profile of the educational programme group.

Maximum score — 100 pointsThe interview is worth 20 points, the essay — 10 points, the doctoral readiness test — 30 points, and the profile-specific examination questions — 40 points.

Passing score — 75To take part in the competition for admission to doctoral studies under the state educational grant and on a fee-paying basis.

01UNT for College Graduates

2 subjectsGeneral professional + specialized — for applicants to related fields of educational programs with a shortened period of study. Number of test items — 60.

2 hours (120 minutes)Total testing time. Maximum score — 70 points.

Passing ScoresAt least 25 points; for the field of education "Pedagogical Sciences" — at least 35 points. The passing score for each subject is 5 points.

02Requirements for Doctoral Studies

One University and One Group of Educational ProgramsFor admission to doctoral studies, you may choose only one higher education institution and one group of educational programs.

Foreign language certificateA foreign language proficiency certificate is required.

KAZTEST certificateA certificate confirming proficiency in the state language under the KAZTEST system.
