The Academic Council is a collegial governing body of the university. The activity of the Academic Council is based on the transparency of collective discussion of matters concerning the implementation of educational, instructional-methodological, and scientific research work, as well as educational work among students and work on the training of scientific and pedagogical personnel and professional development within its competence.
In its activities, the Academic Council is guided by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Charter of Esil University, as well as the Standard Rules for the Operation of the Academic Council of a Higher Education Institution.
Chairman of the Academic Council - Rector of the University, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Taubayev Ayapbergen Aldanayevich.
Meetings of the Academic Council are held at least once a month in accordance with the approved work plan for the corresponding academic year.
Goals the activities of the Academic Council include developing priorities and principles for the university's development, creating a legislative mechanism for the high-quality training of graduates, preserving and increasing material resources and staff qualifications, and ensuring the effective work of the team.
The activity of the university's Academic Council is based on the principles of openness and collective discussion of matters within its competence.
Main tasks of the Academic Council:
– creating the necessary conditions for students and the teaching staff of the University for the successful implementation of educational programs of higher and postgraduate education;
– ensuring high quality training of specialists in accordance with state general education and international standards of higher and postgraduate education;
– ensuring financial sustainability, strengthening the material and technical base of the University;
- promoting the further development of the University.
Main Functions of the Academic Council:
– defining the university's development concept;
– approval of the University's development policy and objectives;
– introducing amendments and additions to the University Charter;
– approval of the University's structure and its staffing schedule;
– establishment, reorganization, and liquidation of the university's educational and research units (laboratories, departments, faculties, centers, and others);
– hearing of annual reports by the rector, vice-rectors, and heads of structural units on the forms and methods of conducting educational, research, character-building, financial, economic, informational, and international activities;
– decision on opening new areas of educational activity;
– review and recommendation for publication of textbooks, study guides, and teaching-methodology materials;
- making decisions on transferring students from the fee-paying division to an educational grant, providing tuition fee benefits;
– approval of research topics and assignment of scientific supervisors-consultants to master's and doctoral students;
– approval of the working curriculum, academic calendars, and the schedule of the educational process, and making changes to them;
– organizing oversight of the university's financial and economic activities;
– consideration of matters concerning the nomination of university staff and creative teams for government awards, honorary titles, and academic titles;
– consideration of other matters of the university's current activities requiring a collegial decision.
