Esil University Students Launched the Charity Campaign ‘You Are Not Alone’

In early April 2026, in active collaboration with the NGO "SOS Children's Village Astana," cooperation was continued with the Department of Social Work and Tourism at Esil University on matters of providing assistance to children in difficult life circumstances.

On 14 April 2026, we received information that a former resident of the SOS Children's Village, G.V., had been found unconscious on the street in April 2025 with a severe traumatic brain injury. He was transported to City Hospital No. 1 by an emergency medical team. For nine months, the medical staff of the Anaesthesiology, Resuscitation and Intensive Care Unit (ARICU) administered treatment, including emergency surgery for a diagnosis of focal traumatic brain injury. The young man began to recover but sustained a Group 2 disability and found himself entirely abandoned — by his family and friends alike. He currently suffers from partial right-side paralysis, significant speech impairment, and memory lapses. To this day he remains in a hospice. Neither his mother nor any other relatives have come to take him in.

Esil University Students Launched the Charity Campaign ‘You Are Not Alone’

First-year students of the Social Work programme (SW 25\1 R) responded to the appeal to help a young man. They decided to launch the campaign "You Are Not Alone," and today the first meeting with G.V. took place. The students, under the guidance of Senior Lecturers Arystanova Z.S. and Savvin E.V. of the department, visited G.V., delivered food, and identified his needs. The campaign plans further include the regular organisation of meetings with students, as well as assistance in placing G.V. in the Zhardem medical correction centre.
