An advisory hour for first-year students of group B-Fin 25/1 R was conducted by adviser Dzhumabeyova A.T., lecturer of the Finance department, in the format of a meeting with the Director of the Academic Library, Sayran Mustafina. The event was aimed at increasing students' interest in reading, developing information literacy, and familiarising students with the resources of the library.
During the meeting, the librarian informed students about the role of the library in the educational process, introduced them to the main areas of its work, and presented the diversity of the library's collection. Particular attention was devoted to academic, popular-science, and fiction literature, which helps students broaden their horizons, deepen their knowledge in their specialization, and develop analytical thinking.
First-year students learned about the rules for using the library, the procedures for borrowing and returning books, and the possibilities for working with electronic resources, reference literature, and periodicals. The librarian explained the contemporary forms of library activity and how to effectively search for and select information for class preparation, the writing of essays, reports, and projects.
During the event, students were presented with new acquisitions of educational and methodological literature in the areas of finance, banking, and monetary regulation, and books useful for personal development were recommended. The meeting took place in the form of a lively dialogue, during which students actively posed questions, shared their reading preferences, and discussed the significance of books and reading in the contemporary world.
At the conclusion of the advisory hour, participants reached the conclusion that reading plays a vital role in the development of the individual, contributes to the formation of a culture of thinking, expands vocabulary, and helps achieve success in both academic and professional activities.
