Esil University Explained How Cybercrime Affects the Economy

At the sectional session organised by the Department of Management, senior lecturer and Master's degree holder G.O. Tansykbayeva presented a paper on the topic "The Impact of Cybercrime on the National Economy."

Cybercrime is a pressing issue that directly affects the stability and security of the national economy amid rapid digitalisation. Unauthorised access to information systems, financial fraud, data theft, and attacks on infrastructure cause significant material damage to the state and business.

The consequences of cybercrime extend beyond financial losses: it reduces investment attractiveness, undermines public trust in digital services, and poses a threat to national security. The banking system, e-commerce, and the public services sector are particularly vulnerable to cyber threats.
