On April 9, Esil University hosted a guest lecture by a representative of the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event attracted a wide range of participants, including faculty members of the Department of Accounting and Auditing, and students of the educational programs in Statistics, Accounting and Auditing, and other economics-related specializations.
A lecture on the topic "The Tourism Satellite Account in the Republic of Kazakhstan" was delivered by Aigul Turysbеkova, Senior Expert of the Department of Accumulation and Satellite Accounts of the Department of National Accounts of the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Aigul is a leading specialist with many years of experience in the field of national accounts and statistical analysis of the economy, actively participating in the development and implementation of key methodological approaches in accordance with international standards, including the System of National Accounts (SNA 2008) and United Nations recommendations.
During the lecture, key aspects of compiling the Tourism Satellite Account (TSA) as a tool of macroeconomic analysis were disclosed, covering methodological principles in accordance with SNA-2008, sectoral and product classifications (NACE, CPC), and statistical data sources — questionnaires, reporting forms, and administrative databases. Particular attention was devoted to the structure of TSA tables and key indicators such as gross value added, employment, investment, and consumption in the tourism sector.
Particular attention was paid to the actual data for 2022, according to which domestic tourist expenditures amounted to more than 289 billion tenge. The largest share fell on accommodation, food, and transportation services.
The lecture was accompanied by a presentation and illustrative calculation examples, enabling participants to gain a deeper understanding of the mechanisms underlying the formation of statistical indicators in tourism. For students in economics-related programmes, this represented a valuable opportunity to become acquainted with the practical realities of national statistics and current analytical methods in the sector.
