The Tenge — The Currency of Independent Kazakhstan

The national currency reflects the history of the state, its current political and economic standing, and its cultural achievements. The tenge plays a key role in domestic and international financial circulation, and banknotes carry historical and cultural significance.

The history of the tenge dates back to 15 November 1993, when the national currency was introduced. Prior to this, Turkic, Samanid, and Khwarazmian coins were used on the territory of Kazakhstan.

Modern technologies make it possible to develop the country's financial system: in 2025, a tenge-denominated stablecoin was launched, combining digital solutions with the traditional financial system. It enables the exchange of cryptocurrency and transactions with crypto cards.

As a symbol of sovereignty, the national currency affirms Kazakhstan's financial independence and remains an important element of national identity.
