Students of the VTPO, ITZD, and IS specializations, accompanied by academic advisors Kenebayeva D.B. and Abdibеkova L.M., attended a drone football tournament held as part of Digital Nauryz 2026.
The competitions were held in the Drone Soccer format using specialized sports drones. Each drone is a quadcopter encased in a robust spherical protective structure approximately 20 centimeters in diameter. This ensures the safety of the game even during active collisions between drones and with elements of the arena.
Control is performed using a remote controller, and the team's objective is to pilot the drone through the opponent's ring gate.
Drone football combines elements of esports, engineering, and teamwork, developing applied skills and a sustained interest in technology among schoolchildren. Today, this discipline is gaining popularity as a contemporary educational format that engages adolescents in a STEM environment through an accessible and engaging competitive framework.
"Support for such projects is of strategic importance for the city. The modern innovative environment is shaped not only by infrastructure and digital solutions but also through the involvement of young people in technology from an early age. Drone football is a vivid example of how a competitive format helps develop engineering thinking, interest in STEM fields, and teamwork skills.
An interactive programme was also organised for the audience, in which AI avatars Nayryzai and Nauryzbaiy told guests about the traditions of Nauryz and the festive programme, while a robot accompanied visitors, creating a special atmosphere for the event. «Drone football is a unique discipline that unites sport, technology, and education. Such competitions teach participants to operate drones and also provide practical skills in engineering, electronics, and teamwork.»
