Within the framework of academic mobility, faculty members of the Department of Finance — Professor Musina Amina Amirjanovna and Associate Professor Alina Gulzhan Baltabayevna — were invited by the management of the branch of Lomonosov Moscow State University to conduct classes in the course "Banking" for fourth-year students of the Faculty of Economics.
Classes were conducted in traditional face-to-face formats in accordance with the academic curriculum designed for 90 academic hours (18 weeks) from 1 September 2023 to 31 January 2024. The curriculum of the discipline included topics on the fundamentals of banking operations both in conventional form and in the form of Islamic banking. Fourth-year students were sufficiently prepared in the theoretical disciplines of the core cycle, which enabled them to study with keen interest the specialised discipline of this notably specific branch of the financial sector.
Various methods for studying banking operations were employed in the sessions, using materials from the Kazakhstani banking sector. Active methods and modern information technologies were used in delivering lectures: presentations and internet resources. Various information platforms (Quizizz, Learningapps), oral surveys and discussions, brainstorming sessions, and test assignments were applied as formative assessment tools. The learning outcomes of the discipline confirmed the students' high level of knowledge acquired, which was reflected in their high final grades.
Overall, the cooperation within the framework of academic mobility proved sufficiently effective and beneficial, enabling students to become acquainted with the experience of ESIL University and to share their educational and methodological materials and publications. Textbooks entitled "Banking" authored by a team of authors under the editorship of Academician of the NAS of Kazakhstan Seitkasimov G.S., recommended by the UMC of the MES of the Republic of Kazakhstan, were transferred to the library of the MGU branch. The management of the MGU branch submitted a request to ESIL University for the acquisition of the textbook "Money, Credit, Banks", likewise recommended by the UMC of the MES of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Such collaboration between faculty members from different higher educational institutions enables the dissemination of experience and the enhancement of knowledge among graduates of economics specialisations.
