On 25 April, Esil University hosted a guest lecture on the topic "A Systemic Approach to the Research and Analysis of Complex Information Security Threats." The organisers were the Departments of Social Sciences and Humanities and Information Systems and Technologies, under the leadership of the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, PhD, Associate Professor A.A. Mukhamedzhanova.
The speaker at the event was Oleg Viktorovich Bil — Head of the Threat Research Division at Seven Hills of Kazakhstan LLP. An expert with 20 years of experience in the field of information security, including eight years in a government structure, he is the founder of a malicious code research laboratory. He has trained a team of specialists in computer forensics, threat hunting, and incident response.
Oleg Bil actively shares his expertise at international and Kazakhstani conferences, including PHDays, Security Analyst Summit, FIRST Conference, and Virus Bulletin. He is the author of specialised courses in malware analysis and holds the prestigious international GREM (GIAC Reverse Engineering Malware) certification.
The lecture was addressed to first-year students of the Faculty of Applied Sciences enrolled in the following educational programmes: "Legal Support of Economic Security," "Information Systems," "Information Technologies and Data Protection," and "Computing and Software Engineering."
During the meeting, current issues of information security, data protection, and response to cyber threats were discussed. Following the event, the parties expressed interest in further cooperation, including on matters of facilitating graduate employment.
