Day Two of IC-SGEE 2025: Esil University Doctoral Students Presented Their Research

The second day of the 1st International Conference on Sustainable Governance, Energy and Environment (IC-SGEE 2025), organised by Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo (UMSIDA), took place.

Continuing the interdisciplinary agenda of the first day, the conference once again brought together researchers from Kazakhstan, Russia, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, and other countries, focusing on the issues of sustainable development, digitalisation, and contemporary public administration.

On the second day, participants continued to discuss key issues related to governance under conditions of rapid technological change. Particular attention was paid to the modernisation of the public sector, the formulation of sustainable development strategies, the effective management of natural resources, and the development of low-carbon and energy-efficient technologies. The discussions also addressed transformations in energy systems, issues of adapting infrastructure to climate change, and the role of "green" innovations in national policy.

A significant portion of the discussions was devoted to the digital transformation of governance processes. Participants analysed issues related to the integration of artificial intelligence into state and municipal structures, the development of data-driven governance systems, and the application of big data in monitoring environmental and economic processes. A separate academic section addressed change management in the context of digitalisation — the adaptation of personnel policy, the formation of new competencies, the transformation of organisational culture, and the leadership models required in the era of digital technologies.

Within the parallel sessions and thematic panels, doctoral students of Esil University presented their research papers, which generated significant interest from the international academic community. Among the topics presented: • "The Roadmap for Decarbonizing Kazakhstan's Heavy Industry: Managing ESG Risks and Opportunities" • "Development of public administration methods in the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of green economy" • "Managing Change in the Higher Education System Based on Competency Forecasting" (Managing Change in the Higher Education System Based on Competency Forecasting); • "Development of Digital Platforms: Transformation of the Global Economy"

The work of the doctoral candidates received positive feedback from foreign researchers, who noted the relevance and depth of analytical development of the presented materials. The discussion of the papers facilitated an exchange of methodological approaches and the identification of directions for further collaborative research.

During the Networking Session, participants continued to exchange experiences and discussed prospects for future academic collaboration, the organisation of joint conferences, the development of international educational programmes, and opportunities for publishing in indexed journals.

The second day of IC-SGEE 2025 concluded with a series of expert discussions during which interim results of the scholarly work were summarised and recommendations were formulated for strengthening international cooperation in the fields of public governance, sustainable energy, and environmental policy.
