The Role of Ombudsmen in Protecting Students’ Rights Was Discussed at Esil University

Esil University hosted an event of the School of Student Ombudsmen, attended by representatives of Astana universities, student ombudsmen, and faculty members.

The event was opened by the First Pro-Rector of Esil University, Doctor of Economics, Professor Serik Bikhanovich Makysh; the Ombudsman of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Nelya Lukpanovna Shapenkova; and the Student Ombudsman of Astana, Arizhan Kuanyshovna Bakhytova. They underscored the significance of the ombudsmen's work in protecting students' rights and acknowledged the role of such meetings in sharing experience and addressing the current challenges facing young people.

A report was delivered by the Chairman of the Alliance of Students of Astana, Yerlan Kiikbay, who spoke about the key role of ombudspersons in the educational environment. Student ombudspersons of the city's universities presented their projects and initiatives aimed at improving the interaction between students and administration.

Particular interest among participants was generated by the discussion of cases from ombudsmen's practice. Participants actively shared their experiences, answered questions, and proposed possible ways of resolving complex situations.

The event concluded with a productive discussion and a general agreement on the necessity of further developing the activities of student ombudsmen.
