The university conducted an advisory hour for third-year students of the Social Work educational programme on the topical subject of ecology and mindful consumption — "Plastic and Our Responsibility for the Environment." The aim of the event was to enhance students' ecological culture and to foster a responsible attitude towards the problem of plastic waste.
During the tutorial hour, students discussed the global problem of environmental pollution caused by plastic. It was noted that plastic is one of the most widespread types of waste in the world, decomposing over hundreds of years and causing serious harm to nature, animals, and human health. Particular attention was given to the role of each individual in reducing the use of single-use plastic.
Students actively participated in the discussion, sharing their views and proposing practical solutions for reducing plastic waste in everyday life. Such issues as waste sorting, the use of reusable bags and bottles, and the formation of environmentally responsible behaviour in society were examined.
As part of a tutor hour, an interactive discussion was conducted aimed at developing the environmental awareness and social responsibility of future social work professionals. Students concluded that caring for the environment is an essential component of every individual's social responsibility.
The tutoring hour was organized and conducted by faculty members of the department — Romkhanqyzy Zhansulu и Aiman Yessenkulova . The event took place in a warm and engaging atmosphere, generated great interest among students, and contributed to the development of environmental awareness and civic responsibility.
