On April 8, a scientific seminar was held at Esil University with the participation of representatives from the Bureau of National Statistics of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The seminar was attended by the faculty of Esil University and L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, as well as students of the "Statistics," "Accounting and Audit," and other educational programs.
One of the lecturers was the Deputy Director of the Department of Data Quality Control and Communications Development of the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nikita Burmistrov.
He is a specialist in the field of ensuring the quality of statistical data and developing systems for interaction with information users. In his professional activities, he is engaged in the development and implementation of mechanisms for evaluating and improving the quality of data used in the preparation of official statistics of Kazakhstan.
At the seminar, he shared experience and practices on the following topics: "the concept and principles of statistical data quality," "international standards and data requirements," "typical errors and risks in working with data," "the role of data quality in the formation of official statistics," and "modern technologies for data monitoring and validation."
The second speaker was Ualikhan Argynbayev, Head of the Department for Work with Users of Statistical Information of the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reform of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Astana.
Ualikhan Argynbayev oversees the area of interaction with users of official statistics, as well as the development of services for providing open data to the public, businesses, and the scientific community.
The key topics of his address included methods of obtaining and using Bureau of National Statistics data, an overview of open information resources and platforms, the capabilities of the Statistical Office for citizens and organisations, mechanisms for feedback and submitting requests, and the development of digital services to improve the accessibility of statistical information. In his address, the speaker focused on the interaction between the Bureau of National Statistics and data users, their rights, the possibilities of obtaining statistical information, as well as the digital services and platforms of the Bureau.
The seminar enabled students and lecturers to deepen their knowledge in the field of statistics, to familiarise themselves with contemporary approaches to data processing, and to pose questions directly to representatives of the national statistical authority.
